My name is Calvin Grier. I started The Wet Print back in 2015 with the idea of creating a carbon transfer printing service for photographers. It quickly became apparent there was a large interest in learning the process. So I started giving workshops in The Wet Print studio in Valencia, Spain and have since then taught over one hundred artists from 34 countries.
Besides making prints and teaching, I have a great interest in research. I enjoy spending weeks or months testing materials, figuring out what works best with the carbon transfer process and why. This investigation is the basis for the online store.
During the Covid lockdown in Spain I was unable to leave my apartment for over a month. So I wrote a book and put together a calibration guide for alternative photographic processes. I have since expanded the series to cover gum printing, and over the next few years, I hope to write books on photogravure, collotype, carbon, and screen printing.
