-Close up and detail from previous print-
The left image is of a wet carbon print. When dry the relief isn't as pronounced, but it's still visible and lends much dimension to the photo. The right image is of a high quality inkjet photo printed with the highest settings on one of the best photographic papers (Canson Infinity Baryta Photographique). Notice the grain from all the dots of ink in the right side "Giclée" print, the lack of texture, lack of depth,  lack of clarity, not to mention the many differences not shown by the photo: the carbon print has a longer tonal range, higher quality feel, more durability against fingerprints and scratches, higher fade resistance, longer lasting 100% cotton paper, etc...

Dry print texture.
Wet print texture. Notice how the image is formed. Instead of placing dots closer or further apart to create light and dark tones like an inkjet print, a carbon print produces those tones by varying the thickness of gelatin. Thick areas of pigmented gelatin are dark and thinner areas are light.
